About

Dear Reader,

Welcome to my blog!  After many, many months of debating whether or not to start a blog, I finally started blogging in June 2013.  There’s really no reason why this was a particularly good time except, well, I had just graduated from college and I didn’t quite know what I was doing with my life.  Also, I really like to cook and bake and share food with people.

I had dabbled in blogging before (Exhibit A: Hashtags and History, my blog for a digital history class; Exhibit B: T-Shirt Hackers, a family crafting blog, please excuse my little sister’s prom dress search photos), but never food blogging.  Since I spend far too much time browsing FoodGawker, I figured it was probably about time I joined in the fun.

Which brings me to The Wordy Baker!  As I previously mentioned, I love cooking and especially baking, but I also love stories.  Which means I can be a bit verbose (or wordy…) sometimes.  This blog is a space for me to share my thoughts on food, and occasionally on life, with all of you lovely Readers.  I try to post twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Saturdays are dedicated to my childhood hero, Laura Ingalls Wilder, when I post baking recipes according to the old rhyme which I learned from her books: “Wash on Monday, iron on Tuesday…bake on Saturday.”

You may notice a dearth of posts between 2015 and 2017. I took an (unplanned) break from blogging when I went to grad school. But with another degree now under my belt and permanent three-day weekends, I’m plunging back into the blogosphere. While I’ve always written about food and travel, I’ll now be sharing some of my craft projects, too.

You can reach me at thewordybaker(at)gmail(dot)com, find me on Flickr or Bloglovin, or leave me a comment here on my blog!
